We regret to announce the Heavenly transition from Earth to Glory of Sharon Laverne Jenkins-Mackey, 62, of New Castle, Delaware formerly of Charleston, SC who entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 5:47AM at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC. Sharon L. Jenkins-Mackey was the beloved wife of William K. Mackey, the loving mother of Michelle Mackey and Matthew (Laney) Mackey.

Sharon Jenkins Mackey, Daughter of Mary Manigault Jenkins and the late Arthur Jenkins Jr was born June 12, 1959, in Charleston SC.

She graduated from C A Brown High School, Charleston SC in 1977. 

On June 1, 1978, Sharon married William Mackey and from this union they were blessed with two beautiful children. 

Sharon attended Tuskegee University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1983. She started her career at the U.S. Army Center for Communications (CENCOM) in Fort Monmouth, NJ. She was a respected and recognized hands-on professional with a successful record of proven performance who could rapidly identify and solve problems, formulate strategic plans, and implement necessary changes. She continued her career with the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command Communications – Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. She was a highly innovative and enthusiastic Program Engineer with 30+ years of experience in tactical communications and technology management. 

Sharon was a great woman of faith. She attended the Long Branch Church of God in Long Branch, NJ where she later received the gift of the Holy Ghost. She enjoyed music, singingand worshipping with her church and family. She faithfully served as the local and district choir director and supported several church activities. She was also known as the Jenkins family choir director and taught many songs to backup singersand lead vocalists.

Sharon was a devoted wife who loved spending time with her husband and children. She enjoyed traveling to Europe and other countries for different culinary experiences. She was an excellent cook who viewed food as a great way to fellowship with family and friends. She often said, "Executive Chef" was her second career choice. 

Sharon Mackey was proceeded in death by her sister Gloria Jenkins Boone. 

She leaves fond memories to be cherished by her loving and devoted husband William Mackey, her children: Michelle Mackey, Matthew (Laney)Mackey. Mother: Mary M. Jenkins of Irmo SC; Siblings: Josephine Worrell, Richmond VA, Anthony (Jean) Jenkins, Dayton OH, Dr. Deborah Chandler,Tampa FL, Randy Jenkins, Grandview MO, Andrea (Greg)Murray, Greenville SC, Darryl Jenkins, Bemsalem PA, Shelia (Marion) Haney, Columbia SC, brother-in-law John Boone, Summerville SC, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Viewing for Mrs. Sharon L. Jenkins-Mackey will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 2pm-5pm at Divinity Mortuary Chapel.

Home Going Services for Sharon L. Jenkins-Mackey will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM at New Bethel Sounds of Praise, 351 Greyback Rd. Jedburg, SC 29483. Apostle Allen H. Simmons, Chief Apostle
