Divinity Mortuary alongside the Paulin-Bowens family regret to announce the passing of Rose Paulin-Bowens, 85, of St. Stephen, SC affectionately known as “Tunie” who went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

 The Life & Legacy of Mother Rose Paulin

Rose Marie Ravenell was born January 21, 1940 in Russellville, South Carolina. With her family surrounded around her bedside, she took flight and left Saint Stephen, South Carolina and the cares of this world to go home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

She was one of twelve children born to Lottie Mae Burgess and Samuel Ravenell.Tunie, as she was affectionately known, was the eldest daughter to her eleven siblings. Rose was preceded in death by her mother and father, her two husbands Stroney I. Paulin and Buster Bowens and her siblings James Ravenell, LeRoy Ravenell( spouse:Lala Ravenell), Mary Ravenell, and Peter Ravenell.

Her living siblings are Abraham Ravenell (Betty), Samuel Ravenell (Zinna), Sister in Law Babara Jean Ravenell, Johnny Ravenell (Georgia), Earline Bowens, Thomas Ravenell, Patricia Ravenell - Butler, and Annette Ravenell-Lucas (Terry).

Rose leaves to cherish her memories: her four children John E. Paulin of Jersey City, NJ, Deborah A. Paulin-Kydd of Saint Stephen,SC, Cynthia Paulin of Newark, NJ, and Anthony Paulin of Saint Stephen, SC. Eight grandchildren, Dewanda D. Sabbs of Jersey City, NJ, Sean D. Perry of Queens, NY, Anthony Paulin Jr of New York, NY, Antwan Paulin of Russellville, SC, Stoney Morales-Paulin of Brooklyn, NY, Cherea Hatcher of Philadelphia, PA. Two great grandchildren, Nylah Rose Paulin of the Bronx, NY, and Hamilton Morales of Brooklyn, NY. In laws Inetha Paulin-Middleton of Saint Stephen, SC, Shirley Johnson of Russellville, SC, Rebecca Davis (James) of New York, and Essie Mae Carolina of New York, and Sam Bowens of New York. She is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and special friends.

Rose Paulin was an active member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Pineville, South Carolina where she regularly attended Sunday school and worship service. Her hobbies included watching her beloved Yankees play, spending quality time with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends at the senior citizens center in Russellville, South Carolina.

Prior to her retirement, Rose was an Emergency & Operating Room Registrar at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Her mission in life was to serve and pour the blessings of the Lord into her children.

Rose held dear her multi-decade long friendships with Dorothy Blanding and Isabelle Harvey. Her close relationships with her sisters Annette, Earline, and Patricia were a testament of her commitment to nurturing and loving her family throughout her life.

Today we honor a beautiful life-our mother’s earthly journey that has come to its peaceful end. Though our hearts are heavy, they are also full because we were blessed to walk beside a woman whose love shaped us and will continue to guide us for the rest of our days
