LIFE REFLECTIONS OF MR. JETHRO BENNETT, Jr.

Jethro Bennett, Jr was born on July 7, 1951, in Pineville, South Carolina, to the late Geneva (McCelven) Bennett and Jethro Bennett, Sr. On January 14, 2026, the Almighty God, called Jethro Bennett, Jr. affectionately known as “Junie to eternal rest in Brooklyn NY, surrounded by love.

Jethro, as a young man became a member of Redeemer Reform Episcopal Church, Pineville, SC. He attended Berkeley County Public School.

Jethro graduated from Russellville High School, then moved to Detroit, Michigan and resided with his eldest sister, Evelyn Manuel. Jethro later moved to New York City, carrying big dreams.

Jethro moved his family to Willingboro, New Jersey and resided there until a few months before his departure.

Jethro was a man who loved fully, lived sincerely and found happiness in deep-sea fishing along; he enjoyed football and golf as well. The water brought him peace. He was informative, strong-willed, and famously opinionated about the news, sports, and his favorite shows, often sparking lively conversations and laughter. Beneath his strong opinions was a kind and generous heart, always wanting to help others.

Jethro was a hardworking man and a devoted provider. Jethro spent many years as a long-distance truck driver hauling cars across the country. His work was more than a job it was an act of love for his family. He took pride in providing, protecting, and showing up in every way he could. His love for the open road carried into his personal life, as he also loved to take vacations, and enjoy life’s moments with family and friends.

Jethro met his first wife, Barbara Bennett while living in New York City. Together they welcomed four children: Serge Metayer (Rhonda Metayer), Bryan Bennett, Sr. (Devonia Bennett Daughter in law), Darryl Bennett (Victoria Bennett), and Janelle Bennett. He poured his heart into raising his children and creating memories filled with love, guidance, and laughter.

Jethro met and married Cassandra Reed in 2013. Cassandra who became not only his wife but his devoted caregiver and constant source of strength. Cassandra lovingly cared for Jethro until he took his final breath, attending to his every need with patience, compassion, and unwavering devotion. Even during his hospital stay, Jethro’s strong will and opinionated spirit never left him. He often made Cassandra laugh at his bedside, insisting on doing things for himself because he never wanted her to feel burdened. He would even laugh at himself, knowing how determined he was to remain strong. In the moments when Jethro grew weak, Cassandra stood strong for him, offering love, comfort, and care until God gently called him home.

Jethro was preceded in death by his parents, Jethro Bennett, Sr. and Geneva Bennett; his sister, Hattie Mae Seaward; his brother, William Bennett; brother-in-law Joseph Sumpter, and his nephew Craig Seaward

Jethro leaves to cherish his loving memory his children, step children his beloved grandsons, Bryan Bennett, Jr. and Darius Bennett, who filled his heart with pride and joy; his brother, Isaac Bennett of NY; his sisters, Evelyn Manuel of NJ and Eugene Sumpter of NJ; his sister-in-law, Mary Bennett of VA; his sister-niece, Synovia (Richard) affectionately raised as his sister of SC; his nieces, nephews, a host of cousins, and dear friends.

Jethro Bennett, Jr. “ Junie” will be remembered for his deep love for his family, his strength of spirit, his humor even in difficult moments, and the kindness he showed throughout his life. His legacy of love, faith, and resilience will live on in every heart he touched.
