We regret to announce the passing of Raymond Gavins, Jr.  AKA "Boobie,"  48, of Ridgeville, SC who entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at The Medical University in Charleston, SC.  The family will be receiving family and friends at the residence of his sister, Tia Gavins. The family asks that while at the residence that a masks be worn and to adhere to all COVID-19 precautions and protocols.

 

Life Reflections of Mr. Raymond Gavins, Jr. "Boobie"

On Tuesday morning August 17, 2021 one we loved and knew stepped across the threshold that we call death, but it was only a step into another room and not stepping out of fellowship of life, it was stepping into one of the other rooms of our Father’s House. Mr. Raymond Gavins, Jr. is in peace with God now and rehjoicing in his happy heavenly home. We must not mourn as those without hope for he has gone to receive the great reward promised to all who serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Raymond Gavins, Jr. was born December 30, 1972 on Charleston, SC. He was the son of the late Raymond Gavins, Sr. and the late Flora Taiste-Gavins.

Raymond Gavins, Jr. was affectionately known as Boobie. He graduated from Berkeley High School Class of 1991. He soon entered the workforce and became a certified welder and brick layer, which he worked with a family owned business, G&M Masonry for many years. Boobie was a former employee of Ecospee, LLC and later became self employed as a general contractor. He was a jack of all trades, had deep knowledge and passion for cars. Boobie had many hobbies, which included, watching football, his favorite football team was the Pittsburg Steelers, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

As a youth, Boobie joined Poplar Hill Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Boobie leaves to cherish wonderful memories of life, his children: Preston Gavins, Xavier Gavins, Maleigha Gavins and Paxton Gavins; sisters: Anitra Gavins and Tia Gavins; bonus sister, Brenda Taiste-Simmons (Alphonso); nephews: Ambreyanna Gavins and Shaniaya Dwight; Godmother/Aunt, Betty Whittaker (Andrew); aunts: Rosanell Murray, Deloris Eadie, Jane Parker, Victoria Wright (John), Cynthia Gavins and Lula Taiste; uncle, Jessie Gavins, Jr. (Patricia); adopted uncle, Kenny Young; adopted aunt: Katie Y Malone (Michael); great grand aunts: Mary Walters (David and Besie Mae Taiste; adopted sisters: Ashley Gilliard, Tiffany C. McCray, Danielle G. Davis, Glenda Gilliard, Glenrita Ravenell and Tracey Gavins; Godsisters: Wanda T. Bowers, Elonra T. Gathers and Loquettia T. Sams; Godbrother, Jacob E. Taiste, III; special friends like brothers: Jerome Mack, Vernon Eadie, Jr., Tomas Samuel and P.T. Pringle, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Viewing for Mr. Raymond Gavins, Jr. will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Divinity Mortuary Chapel from 4-7 pm

Life Celebration will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Popular Hill Christian Church Cemetery, 1621 Popular Hill Road Cross, SC 29436

**Face mask and social distancing is required at both the viewing and service.**
