LIFE REFLECTIONS OF MR. GEORGE REID, JR.

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the path of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.  Psalm 23

Mr. George Reid Jr., the son of the late George and Elizabeth Reid, Sr. was born on June 20, 1941, in Berkeley County, SC. He was one of eleven children. He was nurtured in a Christian home and attended Moncks Corner A.M.E Church. He entered into eternal rest on Saturday March 19, 2022 in his Moncks Corner home surrounded by his loving family.

George received his education through the Berkeley County Public School System. He graduated from Berkeley Training High in 1960 and continued with his career in construction. He found the love of his life in 1962 when he united with Lillie Mae Walker. Through their love five children were born.

He was employed by Haynes Construction for several years. He then decided to take his love of construction to the classroom and work for the Berkeley County School system. He worked for over 20 years at Cross High School teaching many students in the trade of construction.

He was a member of Moncks Corner A.M.E church where he served on the usher board, trustee board, and was a class leader. He also played a vital part in rebuilding the church after the St. James and Graham A.M.E churches combined due to a fire that destroyed St. James A.M.E church.

He was a strong, independent, hardworking man who loved his family and wanted the best for them.

He leaves to cherish fond memories and to carry on his legacy his loving wife, Rev. Lillie Mae Reid; children: Ronald (the late Katrice Wigfall) Reid, Angela (Everett) Reid -Williams, Donald (Iris) Reid, Lennie (Jimilla) Reid, Latasha (Autery) Randle, Jermaine Reid, and Ebony Reid; his two sisters, Verdell (Brister) Williams and Viola Rogers; grandchildren and a host of other relative and friends.
