Life Reflections of Evangelist Christie (Christa) B. McDaniel
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4:7
Christie B. McDaniel, a precious jewel, was born on August 31, 1937 to the late Mr. and Mrs. William and Rosa Grissitt in Shulerville, South Carolina. She honored her parents and stayed close to home to take care of them in their elderly age.
She married the late Regis McDaniel Sr. on July 25,1956. She was a devoted house wife until her youngest child went off to school. She enjoyed knitting, sewing clothes, and doing hair. She loved soul food and entertaining family and friends.
Christie was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County. She worked at Santee Wool Plant for over 28 years and later worked at Cooper Hall as a certified caregiver for 19 years. Her patients loved her and their family would go out of their way to show their appreciation. Her co-workers often called her for counsel, words of comfort, and prayers.
She was truly one of a kind and made you feel so special in her presence. She was a good listener and loved to talk about the goodness of the Lord. She enjoyed taking pictures, and on the third count instead of saying "cheese" she'd say *JESUS*!! She looked forward to every opportunity to get out and enjoy life. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends and loved going on cruises. She stepped out in style wherever she went and wore the best suits.
At an early age Christie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Wesley A.M.E. Church in Shulerville, South Carolina. She later became a member at Jehovah Holiness Church where she accepted the call as an Evangelist and worked faithfully in ministry. She served as the President of the Usher Board/Pastor Aid and Jr. and Sr. Choir, she taught Sunday School, led fundraisers, and so much more. Christie preached all over the tri-county and many were saved under her ministry.
On Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 9:28 a.m., Christie transitioned into glory while calling on the name of the Lord. Her final words recorded by her oldest son were "yea though I walk through the valley of death I will fear no evil because you are with me Lord".
She was preceded in death by her loving siblings: William Jr. Grissitt, Henry Grissitt (Pattie Mae), Freddie Grissitt, Elder Irvin Grissitt, Joanne Thomas, Phoebe A. Smalls (Leon) and her dear late in-laws: Katherine Watson, Leon McDaniel, Alethia and James Rouse, Frank and Angie McDaniel, Elijah and Margaret McDaniel, Norman and Virgie McDaniel, and Leroy McDaniel.
Cherishing the memories they shared are her two sisters: Rose Marie Brown (Isaac), Clara Howard (Stanley). Her two sister in laws: Ellen B. McDaniel and Lillie B. McDaniel, and dear friends: Margaret Maybank, Mahilda Wilson, Magdalene Williamson, and Shirley Kerese,
Christie legacy lives on through her children: Curtis McDaniel, Jonetha Carter (Vincent), Roger McDaniel (Genese), Christine Manigault (Isiah) and Sinclair McDaniel.
