We regret to announce the passing of David Lee "Larry" Johnson, 66, of St. Stephen, SC who entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at his residence.  He was the loving husband of Brenda Johnson, children; Jaleesa Johnson, Courtnee Johnson, Montorony "Monty" (Melissa) Jenkins and Omar Major. 

The family will be receiving family members ONLY at their residence. Family members are asked while at the residence that a face mask must be worn at all times and to adhere to all Covid-19 precautions and protocols. The family thank you for your prayers and understanding during this difficult time.

 

Life Reflections of David Lee "Larry" Johnson

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1

Birth: David Lee "Larry" Johnson was born on November 14, 1954 to the late Lillie Mae Johnson of Bronx, New York. At the age of 8 years old he was raised by his Uncle Amos and Aunt Dinah White, who preceded him to his grave.

Beginning: Larry graduated from St. Stephen High School Class of 1973 and began his career as a Master- Plumber. A career that he enjoyed for over 40 plus years. He was a passionate worker that was soft spoken, hardworking, and loved by all who knew him.

Love: Larry met the love of his life, Brenda Crawford and entered in Holy matrimony on November 24th, 1984. To this union they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Jaleesa Johnson of Moncks Corner, SC and Courtnee Johnson of Charlotte, NC. Two Sons Omar Major of Ladson, SC, and Montorony “Monty” (Melissa) Jenkins of Moncks Corner, SC. His Special Lil’ Girl - granddaughter Melia Jenkins. One Special Lil’ Boy - grandson on the way Jakari Smalls.

Life: Larry loved his family, cook outs, and vacations. Family and Faith were his two main focuses in life. He loved helping people, encouraging, and supporting others. Fishing was one of his favorite hobbies and the Dallas Cowboys was his Number One all-time favorite team. “Go Cowboys”
Larry began his career with Merrick Mechanical where he worked for over 19 years. He retired from Knights Mechanical after working for over 40 years in the plumbing industry; Working with schools, prisons, hospitals, and personal home repairs.

Faith: Larry grew up in the church attending Redeemer Reformed Episcopal Church. At a later date he joined Day Dawn Baptist Church. He served as an Usher and Assistant Sunday School Superintendent at Day Dawn Baptist Church for many years under the leadership of Reverend Joshua Prioleau, until his health started to decline.

Psalm 23: 1-4 was one of his favorite scriptures: The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in the green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadth me in the paths of righteousness for his name sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Family: Larry was blessed to have an abundance of family to carry on his legacy. New York: Sisters Loretta Johnson and Jackie Johnson; Brother Charles Johnson all of Bronx, New York. Gerald Johnson Proceeded him to his grave.
South Carolina: Sisters Coretta (Michael) President of St. Stephen, SC; Cynthia (Curlin) Simmons of Moncks Corner, SC; Brothers Lawrence (Keidra) White and Quincy (Zaddie) White of Pineville, SC.
In-Laws: Pearl (Dea. Isreal) Collins of Pineville, SC, Hazel Crawford of Pineville, SC, Georgia Pierce of Moncks Corner, SC, Beatrice Crawford of St. Stephen. Special Brother: Sinclair Middleton

Death: On September 22, 2021, Larry received his heavenly wings at his residence in St. Stephen, SC. God called his name softly so that only he could hear, and no one heard the footsteps of the angels drawing near. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone; for parts of us went with you the day God called you home.

Mourn: Larry leaves to cherish his sweet memories his loving wife Brenda, children and grandchildren, sibling, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew family and friends

My Special & Loving Family: Crawford, Smalls, and White Family of Pineville, SC.  The fond memories will be cherished always and forever.
                  
Viewing for Mr. David Lee "Larry" Johnson will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021 from 4-6pm at Divinity Mortuary Chapel.

Graveside and Life Celebration Service  will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Pineville Sunset Memorial Cemetery, off of 45 Marcus Circle, Pineville, SC 29468

** Face mask and social distancing is required at both the viewing and service**
