Life Reflections of Charles Aiken

Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Matthew 11:28

Charles Aiken, a beloved son given by the Lord to Rosalee Aiken, was born in Charleston, South Carolina on January 31, 1945. He peacefully slipped into Eternal Life with the Lord on Tuesday morning, July 27, 2021, in Bonneau, SC. following a period of declining strength and health.

Charles received his education in the public schools of Charleston County, SC.

At an early age, Charles accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and became a member of Greater St. Mark AME Church, Bonneau, SC. Charles entered the workforce at an early age. Later, he found employment with Read’s Moving Systems, Summerville, SC where he was employed for over 40 years up until his health failed him.

On August 5, 2010, Charles was united in Holy Matrimony to Melissa McHoney.

Charles was known as a "Hard Working Man”. He had a passion for driving trucks, (18-Wheelers) in which he did for over 20 years. He always believed in having his own and striving for the best. His favorite saying is “I have to go to work”. He didn’t care what was going on as long as he was working, and Lisa and the boys were Okay. He was always a man that believed that God is first, his family was second, then Charles was happy. Even when his health was failing him, he would always say, “I’m going to WORK up until God and his body allowed him too”, and Charles Aiken did just that.

Charles was a loveable person who touched and impacted many lives. He will be remembered for his hard work, kindness, sense of humor, and love for family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Rosa Lee Aiken of Florida; sister, Catherine Frazier, and brother Thomas Aiken, of New York, NY.

Charles leaves to cherish precious memories his loving wife, Melissa McHoney Aiken; two sons: Ryan Witherspoon and Dexter Witherspoon of Bonneau, SC; six sisters: Dorothy (Cleveland-Deceased) Frazier, Darlene Tucker, Dolly (Apollo) Wright) Lorraine Tucker, and Melanie Givens all of New York, NY and Rosa Lee Drayton of Florida; one brother, Robert (Mena) Aiken; niece and nephew, Michael and Yolanda Porter of Charleston, SC., and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The family will be receiving family and friends at their residence at 1382 Mendal Rivers Rd. Bonneau, SC 29431. The family requests that a face mask must be worn while at the residence at all times.
