We regret to announce the heavenly transitioning from earth to glory of Catherine Way Glenn, 91, of Ridgeville, SC who entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 12, 2021 at her residence surrounded around her loving family.

Catherine Way Glenn, the oldest child of 12 children born to the late Pearly and Ida Glenn Way on June 18, 1929 in the small town of Ridgeville (Givhans), South Carolina. On March 12, 2021, she transitioned to her heavenly home. Five siblings preceded her in death: Wallistine Powell, James Way Sr., Bessie Mae Way, Eugene Way and Dorothy Lee Way. She was married to the late Mikell Glenn.
Catherine received her education at the Enoch Station School in Ridgeville, South Carolina and continued her education at the Adult Education Center in St. George, South Carolina. At the age of 19 Catherine relocated to Brooklyn, New York where she worked as a presser at Brooklyn Dry Cleaners and a domestic worker in various homes. She returned to South Carolina in 1965 and became employed at Broyhill Manufacturing where she retired in 1990.
Catherine’s spiritual journey started at an early age at the Enoch Station United Methodist Church until its dissolution in 1965. She then became a faithful member of the New Hope United Methodist Church where she served on the Women Society Committee, and the Usher Board. She was a loyal member of the McDaniel Order of the Eastern Star and the Martin Luther King Assembly Order of the Golden Circle.
She attended the Faith Sellers Senior Citizens Center and enjoyed various activities. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, and gardening. Catherine’s Missionary journey included visits to the sick and those that were shut-in as well as those in the hospitals.
Her precious memories will always be cherished in the hearts and minds of her devoted children: Joe Nathan Way of Ridgeville SC, Diane Way Barnes of Suitland, MD, Dolores Way Simpson (Truman) of Summerville, SC and Charles Way of Union City, GA. Eight grandchildren: Tyrone Elijah Barnes, Sr., T’Awanna (Misty) Simpson, Faith Miranda Simpson, Charity Adelle Simpson, Jason Way, Hope Diandra Simpson-Muldrew (Arnold Muldrew), Dominique Pitt, and Mya Chanel Way. Seven great-grandchildren: Tyrone Elijah, Jr., Tavon Marquise, Jace Raevon, Jasean, Hayden Kennedy, Trinitie Poet, Eden Serenity and Grayson Cooper. One great-great grandchild Ty’lai. Three brothers: William Way of Dorchester, SC, Leroy Way of Ridgeville, SC and John Henry Way of Miami, FL. Three sisters: Lillian Cobbs and Beulah Anderson of Washington, DC and Emma Dell Way of Brooklyn, NY, one sister-in-law Louise F. Way of Ridgeville, SC a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 from 4:00p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at New Bethel Sounds Of Praise, 351 Greyback Rd. Summerville, SC 29483
Celebration Of Life will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Enoch Station Cemetery, Rice Rd. Ridgeville (Givhans), SC 29472
