It is with humble submission and bowed heads we announce the peaceful transition of one of God’s own Chief Apostle Clyde S. Smith, Sr., 87, of Summerville, SC who heard the master’s call and answered to receive his just reward at his residence on Sunday afternoon with his loving wife and family by his bedside. Chief Apostle S. Smith, Sr. was the Pastor of Greater Faith Temple Apostolic Church, Dorchester, SC. Apostle Smith, Sr., has been Pastoring, preaching and teaching the unadulterated word of God for 64 years. Many souls were saved, life’s were changed and brought to Christ through his ministry. Chief Apostle Clyde, Sr., was the loving and devoted husband of 46 years to the apple of his eye Mother Floretta Walker-Smith; forever loving father of Sharmaine Smith-Steward (Jermaine), Claudia Walker (Felton), Carolyn Roberts, Clyde Smith, Jr., (MaryAnn), Woodrow Smith, Demond Smith, Corey Smith, Darrin Smith, and Trevin Smith; 28 loving grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 6 great- great grandchildren, and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and the Greater Faith Temple Apostolic Church family.
Chief Apostle Clyde Smith, Sr., was preceded in death by his parents Isaiah & Elizabeth Smith; his son: Richard A. Smith; daughter-in-law: Rose Mary Walker-Smith; siblings: Harry Smith, Sr. & Margaret Dingle.
The family will be receiving family and friends at their residence between the hours of 4-8pm daily with all visitors arriving no later than 7:00pm please. There will be a security guard at the gate, therefore you will need to contact the daughter Minister Sharmaine Smith-Steward to receive access through the gate.
Please adhere to the hours given by the family. A face mask is required to be worn and kept on at all times while at the residence.
SERVICE DETAILS BELOW:
** Chief Apostle Smith will lie in state at Greater Faith Temple Apostolic Church from 5:00pm until the hour of the Wake Service which begins at 6:00 PM. **
** All Clergy are asked to wear your civic attire on Saturday for the Home-Going Service. **
