LIFE REFLECTIONS OF VIVIAN B. MAZYCK

Vivian Bernice Mazyck was born on June 21, 1944, in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, to the late Caesar and Azerlee Mazyck. She attended New Mt. Zion AME and Greater St. James AME Churches in Summerville. Vivian's childhood years were spent in South Carolina and New York. Vivian's most recent location was Hoschton, Georgia, suburban Atlanta where she entered eternal peace.

Vivian attended Whitesville Elementary School until she moved to Brooklyn, New York with her parents. She completed her education in New York City public schools graduating from Franklin K. Lane High School in Jamaica, New York. She immediately began her career after high school at the Federal Reserve Bank in New York's Wall Street District. Vivian worked at Desco Shoe Corporation, NYC Department of Health (Maternity and Infant Care) and with the New York City Transit Authority, where she served as a token booth clerk and train dispatcher. She retired 28 years ago at the age of fifty.

Vivian loved bowling and traveling. The bowling ball accompanied her on many of those trips. Most people go to Las Vegas to play the slot machines; however, Vivian went bowling. She joined the Transit Bowling League with many of her coworkers. They worked, traveled and bowled together for many years and continued after retirement. She often told stories about her trips to the Bahamas, Vegas and California with her friends, always recalling how they would drive down to Mexico and back to California in time to get a flight to Hawaii.

Baseball (the Mets) and tennis were her favorite sports to watch, and Vivian had no issues with monopolizing the TV to watch championship games. In our family, only Vivian stood up to the challenges.

Vivian was a very strong leader and organizer for Mazyck Family Descendants' Reunions. She loved her family and enjoyed many of the gatherings. She was the 'go to' person for family connections because the DNA was listed in her knowledge. We are all thankful and fortunate that she was able to compose a book connecting our families.

Vivian was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her motto was always 'Family First'.  She will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity.

Vivian leaves behind to mourn, her daughter, Twhanika Jackson (Marvin), five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, her sisters, Evelyn Roberson, Las Vegas, NV, Alkaree Shabeleh, Moncks Corner, Elaine Mazyck, Staten Island, NY, brother Hannibal Mazyck, Moncks Corner,  granddaughters, Jalyscia Austin, Jalayena McGregor, Jada Jackson, Jayla Jackson, grandson, Jahlil McGregor, great grandchildren, Trae Mason, Jamiyah Austin, Jamia Austin, Ja'Leah Austin, Jaia Austin, Ace McGregor, Eli McGregor, Amai Tucker, Ariya Brielle Burger and Makai Anthony Burger, Goddaughter, Cathy Mazyck, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her sisters Betty Jean Kelly, Judith Mazyck, Orrie Lea Carroll, granddaughter, Jamiellya McGregor and nephew Alvin Kelly.
