It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Roger Ravenell, 78, of Pineville, SC who entered into eternal rest on Friday, May19, 2023 at his residence with his loving wife and family by his side. Roger shared 50 wonderful years of marriage to his beautiful wife Dorothy Mae Ravenell; forever loving father of (3) daughters; Hope (Andre) Nelson, Vanessa Harris, Kanya (Roderick) Ravenell, (6) sons; Kevin (LeRonda) Ravenell, Johnell Brown, Damon Ravenell, Devar Ravenell, Sean White and Troy McCray; (11) grandchildren; (3) great grandchildren; loving siblings; Mack (Delores) Ravenell, Mary (Solomon) Bryant, Frank Ravenell, Ruby Bryant, Zelinda Spann, Ruth Owsley; special Nephew; Claude (Celestine) Ravenell; special cousin; Joseph (Helen) Simmons and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends and the Eadytown / Pineville Community.

The family will be receiving family and friends at their residence between the hours of 3:00pm - 7:00pm daily. Please adhere to the hours given by the family .  You are welcome to leave your condolences on our Tribute Wall.

LIFE REFLECTIONS

Roger Ravenell, the son of the late Mack & Elizabeth Ravenell was born on August 31, 1944 in Pineville, South Carolina. He departed this life on Friday, May 19th, 2023.

Roger graduated from Central High School in 1964. Roger was employed at Oakland Club Plantation, Pineville SC for 55 years.

Roger accepted Christ at an early age and join Green Hill United Methodist Church, presently known as Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church where he served on the Male choir, usher board, a servitor, and as a Trustee.

Roger met the love of his life Dorothy Mae Ravenell and married her on January 26th, 1973. They were blessed with four wonderful children, eleven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Roger was a sweet, loving, player player and caring person. He enjoyed running track, football, basketball, band, and being the Athletic bus driver.

Roger had a passion for hunting, riding horses, and grilling. He enjoyed frying fish and grilling for any occasion. Rain or sunshine, cold or hot Roger didn't mind cooking or hunting. Roger was also known as a great softball player for the "Eadytown Hawks".

He was preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings. Josephine Sumpter, James Ravenell, Lillie Mae Butler, Lucy Snell, Alphonso Ravenell, Maxine Jones, Carrie Glover, Uncle Tinkman, Rufus Britton and Jessie McCray. Two special friends Deak Brown and Elijah "Boogie" McCray.

Roger leaves cherished and loving memories to his wife of 50 years Dorothy Mae Ravenell, of Pineville, SC. (3) daughters; Hope (Andre) Nelson of Cross, SC, Vanessa Harris of Bronx, NY, and Kanya (Roderick) Ravenell of Bayonne, NJ. (6) sons; Kevin (LeRonda) Ravenell of Moncks Corner, SC, Johnell Brown of Saint Stephen, SC, Damon Ravenell, Devar Ravenell of Pineville, SC, Sean White, and Troy McCray of Pineville, SC. (2) grandchildren reared in the home;  KeMaree Ravenell and DeAree Ravenell of Bayonne, NJ, (22) grandchildren, great grandchildren; His siblings; Mack (Delores) Ravenell of Pineville, SC, Frank Ravenell of Bronx, NY, Ruby Bryant, Zelinda Spann of Jersey City, NJ, Ruth Owsley of Atlanta, GA.  (1) Aunt Mary (Solomon) Bryant of Moncks Corner, SC; Special Nephew Claude (Celestine) Ravenell of Pineville, SC. Special cousin Joseph (Helen) Simmons. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

SERVICE DETAILS :

Public Viewing will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023 from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Divinity Mortuary.

Celebration of Life Service of Mr. Roger Ravenell will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 11:00am at Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church, 2907 Hwy. 45, Pineville, SC 29468. Rev. Richard Irving -Pastor

Interment: Church Cemetery
