It is with great sorrow that we announce the Heavenly transition from Earth to Glory of the Matriarch of the Simmons Family, Mother Marie P. Simmons, 89, of Moncks Corner, SC who entered into eternal rest at 12:12 PM at her residence on Saturday, December 11, 2021 with her Loving children by her side. "May The Works She's Done, Speak For Her"

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic the family WILL NOT be receiving anyone at their residence, but family members ONLY. Family members are asked while at the residence that a face mask be worn. The family thank you for your prayers and understanding during this difficult time.

Life Reflections of Mother Marie P. Simmons

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4

On the morning of Saturday, December 11, 2021, it pleased the Lord to take Mother Marie Simmons from this life to a better life of peace. Mother Simmons was born October 7, 1932 to the late Thomas and Gertrude Wineglass. She was the youngest of two children. Her parents and brother preceded her in death.

Mother Simmons attended public schools in Berkeley County. She was married to the late Curley Simmons and this holy union was blessed with seven children.

Mother Simmons accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Holy Comforter Reformed Episcopal Church under the leadership of Reverend Marcus Liferidge; where she served faithfully until her health failed. Mother Simmons held several positions during her tenure which includes member of the Pulpit Aide Board, member of the Senior Choir and a Sunday School Scholar. She loved the Lord and was filled with the Holy Ghost.

Mother Simmons started her career at Berkeley Motel and later became the head cook of The Dock Restaurant for twenty seven (27) years. Her hobbies were fishing, cooking, gardening, spending time with her family and giving inspirational words whenever necessary to those she met.

Mother Simmons leaves a legacy in the persons of Bishop Douglas (Elaine) Wineglass, Vera Reaves, Suzie Simmons, Leroy (Charlene) Simmons, Belinda Gourdine, Mable Simmons and Angela (Norwood) Cleveland; adopted daughter Nancy Washington; thirty (30) grand- children which includes, Tiffany Latrice Simmons and Faith Victoria Simmons who was raised in the home; 27 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. One Godson, Lee Thomas, cousin Alfornia Berry and a lifelong friend Ms. Caroline Green.
