Latonya D. “Toya” Johnson-Yates

Cordesville, SC

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Latonya D. Johnson-Yates, 41, of Moncks Corner, SC who entered into eternal rest on Tuesday morning in Cordesville, SC. "Toya" was the loving and devoted wife of Shinoal Yates, the loving mother of Jada Rucker and Mya Yates; the forever loving daughter of Ruth Johnson and the late Luther W. Johnson, Jr., and the loving sister of Denotra Johnson and Rasheith Rembert.

The family will be receiving family and friends at 1137 Hard Pinch Rd. Cordesville/Moncks Corner,  SC. A face mask is required to worn at all times while at the residence.  Continue to keep the Johnson and Yates family in your prayers during this difficult time.  You are welcome to leave your condolences on our Tribute Wall.

LIFE REFLECTIONS OF LATONYA D. "TOYA'" JOHNSON-YATES

LaTonya Delria Johnson-Yates daughter of Ruth Johnson and the late Luther Walter Johnson Jr, was born on July 17, 1981 in Charleston, South Carolina. She departed this life on Tuesday August 2, 2022 in Cordesville, South Carolina.

"Toya" as she was affectionately called, was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County and Orlando, Florida in which she lived for twenty-one years.

She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Shinoal Carnell Yates on September 26, 2014 in Orlando, Florida.

"Toya" was preceded in death by her father: Luther Walter Johnson Jr., paternal grandmother: Emma Jane Brown Johnson and maternal grandparents: Willie James and Nell Thomas.

Those left to cherish her precious memories are her husband: Shinoal Carnell Yates of Kinston, NC, her mother: Ruth Johnson (Frank Sharper) of Moncks Corner, SC, father in law: Dennis Yates of Winston, NC, mother in law: Geraldine Yates of Winston, NC, two children : Jada Akira Rucker and Mya Camille Yates of Moncks Corner, SC, one brother:  Rasheith Rembert of Baltimore, MD, brother in law: Pomorantz Yates of Kinston, NC, one sister:  Denotra Johnson of Moncks Corner, SC, nieces: Emani, Natalia and Blake, nephew: Johnathan and host of aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022 at Divinity Mortuary, from 3-6 PM.

Life Celebration will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Jehovah Jireh Life Ministry, 1254 Sawmill Road Cordesville, SC 29434. Elder Jessie Simmons - Pastor
