James Brown Jr. was born July 07, 1947, in Berkeley County, South Carolina, son of the Late James Brown Sr. and Louise Chatman Brown Hammond. James Brown Jr. transitioned into eternal life on February 21, 2026, in New Jersey.

James received his education in the public school system of Berkeley County.

James later moved to Newark, New Jersey in 1964. James was married to the late Patricia Ann Williams. They were blessed with two beautiful children.

James worked at several production industries for 45 years.

James leaves to cherish in his memory a multitude of loved ones, Two loving children: son Pernell James Brown III (Katina) of Goose Creek, SC and daughter Hope Brown Gibson of Lake City, SC. Three grandchildren: Pernell James Brown IV, Ishmael Gibson and Faithfulynne Gibson, great-grandchildren, Four brothers: Lewis L. Brown, Kervin J. Brown (Sharon), Dannie L. Brown and Rickey D. Brown (Tricia) Two sisters: Eleanor Armstrong and Lillian Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
