Divinity Mortuary formally announces the passing of Glennis Alvin Brown, 56, aka “Sly” a member of the hip-hop group “Twin Hype” of Cross, SC entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 2, 2025.
Twin Hype is a pioneering hip-hop duo composed of twin brothers Glennis “Sly” Brown and Lennis “Slick” Brown. They gained fame in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s for their energetic live performances and singles like “Do It To the Crowd” which is still celebrated as a hip-hop classic. The group was known for their contributions to the hip-hop and dance music genres.
Twin Hype was one of the first groups to heavily incorporate dance and energetic live performance into their acts which helped pave the way for future hip-hop and pop performances.
Glennis leaves to cherish his memories, his loving son, Corinthian Brown, of Moncks Corner, SC; siblings: Wilhelmenia Brown-Weatherley, Charleston, SC, Sarah Limehouse, Moncks Corner, SC, Maxine Quinn (Robert) Moncks Corner, SC, Valerie Brown, Summerville, SC, Willie Brown Jr., Cross, SC, Gene Brown, Ladson, SC, Irving Brown, Charleston, SC, Rufus Brown, Cross, SC, Isiah Brown, Kansas City, Lennis Brown, (Twin brother) Cross, SC, aunts: Dorothy Brown, Cross, SC, Albertha Martin, Charleston, SC, Ann Monteiro, Linden, NJ and at host of loving nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Glennis was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Rebecca Finley Brown, siblings: Victoria Brown and Norman Brown.
The family will not receive any guests during this difficult time, but keep Corinthian, the siblings and family in your prayers.
