Evangelist Shirley Jane Brown - Matthews

It is with bowed heads and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Evangelist Shirley Jane Brown-Matthews, 69, of St. Stephen, SC who heard the Master's call and answered early Saturday morning July 1, 2023 at Roper Hospital, Charleston, SC. Evangelist Matthews was the loving & devoted wife of 31 years to Deacon Charles Matthews; forever loving mother of John Chandler, La'Quetta Chandler, Gifford Matthews (Michelle), Nicole Matthews and Robbia Benjamin (Monroe); Stepmother; Annie Lou Sanders; 20 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and a host of other loving family and friends.

Evangelist Matthews was preceded in death by her son; Michael E. Chandler; her parents Jacob Sanders & Lorena Gourdine and step-father Robert Gourdine Jr.

The family will be receiving family and friends at their residence. You are welcome to leave your condolences on our Tribute Wall. Continue to keep Evangelist Shirley Matthews husband, children, family, community and St. Phillip Baptist Church family in your prayers during this difficult time.

Celebration of Life Service of Evangelist Shirley J. Brown-Matthews will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 12:00 Noon at Day Dawn Baptist Church, 2057 Hwy. 45, Pineville, SC  Rev. Joshua Prioleau - Pastor

Interment: Pineville Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Pineville, SC
