Elease Walker-Davis

We regret to announce the passing of Elease Walker Davis, 86, of Moncks Corner, SC who heard the master's call and answered to receive her just reward on Tuesday evening September 6, 2022 at her residence. Mother Elease was the loving and devoted wife of Herman T. Davis, Sr., forever loving mother of Herman T. (Deloris) Davis, Gloria Davis, Debra Michael) Sheppard, Charles (Debra) Davis, Faye A. (Andrew) Fountain, Darold Davis, Gregory (Leslie) Davis, Priscilla (Daniel) Moore, Carol (Richard) Cooper, Shirley (Andrew) Gross and Arthur (Tanya) Austin, loving sister of Leona Doiley & Rosena Butler.

The family will be receiving family and friends at their residence. A face mask is asked to be worn while at the residence. Continue to keep the Walker-Davis family in your prayers during this difficult time.

The Life and Legacy of Mother Elease Walker - Davis

Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.  My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? Elease Walker Davis, the daughter of the late Zimmie and Dessie Walker, was born on October 2, 1935, in Summerville, South Carolina. On Tuesday, September 6, 2022, she answered God's call and gained her heavenly wings in the comfort of her home.

Elease was educated in the public school systems of Berkeley County.

In 1956, Elease was joined in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Mr. Herman Davis.  For 66 years they have been blessed to share a wonderful life; raising their family and embracing the sunset of their beautiful journey together. A match made in Heaven, their marriage serves as a glowing example of love, joy, and unity.

At an early age Elease became a member of Greater St. James AME Church.  She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior as a result of the example and teachings of her mother and father.  She attended church faithfully prior to the failing of her health. She was a faithful member of the Women's Missionary Society and the Senior Choir.  She also enjoyed serving at Branch AME Church, and New Mt. Zion AME Church, Sheep Island.

The Matriarch of a large loving family, Elease, was a precious gift from God with much beauty, grace, and patience. She wore many hats and she wore them well.  Her elegance and queenly presence were unmatched. Elease was devoted to being a supportive wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, reading the Bible, singing, talking on the telephone, spending time with her loved ones, watching her stories, and traveling. Behind the scenes she was the glue to her husband's business, serving as his secretary, accountant, and sometimes his boss. Her smile, her laugh, her slick jokes, and even her sharp tongue will be missed.  She touched our hearts in so many ways. Even on dark days, her strength and smile made us realize we had an angel beside us.

While we never saw her wings, Elease's angelic presence was revealed through her loving support of her children and grandchildren and sharing in the joys, successes, and even the struggles that life can bring.  Because her love was without limits, her remarkable presence will be continuously treasured in the hearts and memories of her beloved family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her eldest daughter, Mrs. Ellenor Wade.

She leaves loving memories to be cherished by her devoted husband, Herman Davis; her children: Herman T.(Deloris) Davis, Gloria Davis, Debra (Michael) Sheppard, Charles (Debra) Davis, Faye A. (Andrew) Fountain, Robert D. Davis, Gregory (Leslie) Davis, Priscilla (Daniel) Moore, Carol (Calvin) Cooper, Shirley (Andrew) Gross , and Arthur (Tanya) Austin; son-in-law, Quintin Wade; her sisters, Mrs. Leona Doiley & Mrs. Rosena Butler; her brother-in-laws, Mr. Melvin McQueen, Mr. Jerome (Laura) McQueen; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Maggie Mae Simmons, 21 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, a very special caregiver, Mrs. Leona Lloyd, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. As her life was a blessing and her memory a treasure, she will be loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.

Viewing will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 5-7 PM at Divinity Mortuary.

Home-Going Service of Mother Elease Walker- Davis will be held on Monday, September 12, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Greater St. James AME Church, 1831 Jedburg Rd. Summerville, SC 29486.  Reverend Archie Fair- Pastor

A face mask is required to be worn and kept on at all times while in the sanctuary The service will be live streamed on our facebook page.
